Dumji Festival is one of the major festivals celebrated by the Sherpa community of the Khumbu region. This festival falls in the month of July and is observed to mark the birth of the Guru Rinpoche. This festival was initially introduced by the Lama Sangwa Dorji, who is also the pioneer founder of the monastery, in Pangboche to correspond the Guru Rinpoche’s birth anniversary and dates back to about 360 years ago.
